whenever i hear "vintage" "limited edition/stocks" i suddenly have this impulse to buy them...
one of the latest quirks that I'm developing is the adoration for vinyl and designer toys,
when i was a kid, i wasn't the toy person type, I'm afraid of barbies and other dolls, i have stuffed animal toys and they were mostly gifts, i rarely ask my family members to buy me one.

However at an early age i had this interest to collect happy meal toys from Mcdo.
It was such an achievement to complete the set, but since i was a kid, the toys that i loved were converted into pulp, were forgotten, were used a "pato" in games. Some were lucky enough to be donated to my niece. Only a few remain in my possession, this includes this Cheshire cat which my father gave me.
When I was 18 years old, my passion for collecting toys were rekindled by Tokidoki,
the Italian designer,
his creations caught my attention,
they were subliminal creatures which manifested the japanese kawaii-ness juxtaposed with death and happy gloominess.

I searched for pinoy dealers, i stumbled upon freshmanila's multiply site, i wasn't able to buy one because i didn't know how to go to their place, XD
i was also "tamad" that time, @_@
after a few years, 2 years to be exact, i remembered tokidoki, i was at Rustan's gateway looking at LeSportsac and remembered it's collaboration with tokidoki, i researched again on tokidoki, i learned that the proper term to address his toys was "designer toys/vinyl" and that there were certain artists saying these works shouldn't be called toys because they are works of art.
A common connotation of what a toy is is that it is something to be played with, well not in the case of designer toys. these designer toys are collectibles and i bet some kids wouldnt be too happy to see some of them, also kids wouldn't understand the satirical context in some of them, like in Tokidoki's Adios and Ciao designs.
SO be it a work of art or a toy the point is it is something worth buying and keeping and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye (varies on people though)...

(hey, i remembered i called freshmanila about this adios and ciao ciao pillow case, they didn't call me back :O hmm, maybe they're busy coz of their transfer in domani?)
Finally, here comes the part where the title will make sense, ahem...
while i was recuperating from the heartbreak that tokidoki caused me (AHAHAHA)
my attention was redirected to Frank Kozik, i don't remember exactly why i knew about his work but when i saw his labbits (hell where did i see those?!) i was hooked!
in time for my new obsession, this new place opened, the collective. And in that new place, there's this newly opened toy store named vinyl on vinyl. This store is far from my place but i decided to check it out (i'm more familiar with makati than q.c. you see)
oh wait, before i went there i asked their twitter account if they have the series 4 labbits, and since the account said they have those, I WENT THERE :D
(ah wait, a little story, i saw vov's co-owner Gaby dela Merced at this Coke Zero ETC covered event at Eastwood and asked her about the labbit stock, she confirmed that they have it[she seems to be nice :3])
and so after a week or so, I WENT THERE :D
and bought (caught) these nicotine junkies!
(photographer @adjiekpoako)
see, they're feisty little creatures, they're playing wrestling!
i LABB it
anyways, i'm looking forward to my next visit there, will go there Nov. 5 in time for this toy exhibit :D (BINIL Custom Toy Exhibition)
